Nyandarua Milk Farmer's To Lose sh75 Per Litre

Nyandarua county government have contacted yet another grievous mistake by buying thousands of processed milk from new Kenya Co-operative Creameries (KCC) to facilitate its agendas on providing free milk to over 23,000 pupils in the early childhood education program. Led by Governor Francis Thuita Kimemia and several leaders, the move will slowly kill the milk production industries that have plunged up due to the high production of milk from the area. Currently, Nyandarua county is one of the giant producers of milk in the county, and it is well known all over Africa.
Instead of Nyandarua county selling fully processed milk like Makueni County that has hit the headlines for having fully processed agri-products like the mango juice and milk, Nyandarua county will be reduced into consumer counties like Nairobi and other counties that have minimal or zero production of milk. That means Nyandarua County will lose a lot of revenue that could have otherwise be used to promote agriculture production in the area.

Recently the governor has been having a series of PR interviews in the local dailies and national televisions to promote his ambitions to make the county great. Despite Nyandarua county having a link to international governments like Israel and the rest, buying milk from other producers will mean a total loss. Nyandarua farmers are hopeless with a liter of milk being purchased at a lower price of 27 sh and buying fully processed milk at 25sh per 250g which means sh100 per liter is spent to buy processed milk. In essence, 75 Kenya shillings is lost or goes outside Nyandarua county per every liter bought. Now with Nyandarua county being a giant milk producer with an estimated annual milk production of 234 million liters amounting to over 7billions, this is a significant blow to the county economy.
